How to post a move

Post a move in 9 short steps. Free to post — you only pay when you reserve your team.

Overview

Posting a move is how you tell qualified local movers what you need help with. The post is a nine-step form that saves as you go, so you can leave and come back without losing your answers.

Purpose

A move post gives movers the details they need to decide whether to apply: what you're moving, when, from where to where, and the hourly rate you're offering per mover.

When to use it

  • You need moving labor and want movers to apply so you can pick the crew.
  • You already used the Moving Labor Calculator and want to turn that estimate into a real post.
  • You need to re-post a move you previously drafted (drafts auto-save under your account).

Step-by-step

  1. From the home page or the customer dashboard, tap Post My Move.
  2. Step 1 — The move. Choose move date, move type, and rough size.
  3. Step 2 — The property. Tell us home size and property type.
  4. Step 3 — Access & logistics. Stairs, elevators, long carries, parking.
  5. Step 4 — Inventory. Rooms and heavy or bulky items.
  6. Step 5 — Specialty items. Piano, safe, gun safe, hot tub, pool table, or other items that need special handling. Upload a photo if you can.
  7. Step 6 — Transportation. Rental truck, POD, storage unit, or your own vehicle.
  8. Step 7 — Addresses & post details. Origin and destination, plus your hourly rate tier ($35, $45, $55, or $75 per mover).
  9. Step 8 — Your contact info. Name, phone, and email.
  10. Step 9 — Review & estimate. Confirm the itemized estimate, then submit.

Helpful tips

  • Answer honestly about stairs, elevators, and long carries. Under-reporting these adds time on move day and can push your final bill up.
  • Upload specialty item photos so movers can accept or decline with confidence.
  • Save mid-way if you're gathering info — the draft is stored under your account.

Common mistakes

  • Guessing on truck size or item count. If you're not sure, run the Moving Labor Calculator first.
  • Posting less than 48 hours ahead. Movers can still apply, but fewer will be available.
  • Selecting the cheapest tier for a job that clearly needs tools, straps, or specialty equipment — you'll get fewer applications.

Frequently asked questions

Do I pay to post? No. Posting is free. You pay a flat $49 booking fee only after you reserve your team at checkout.

Can I edit after I post? Yes. See Editing a move.

How many movers should I request? Match crew size to your inventory. The calculator's recommendation is a good starting point.

Troubleshooting

  • "Save failed" — check your connection and try again. Your last saved step is kept.
  • Address won't validate — enter the street, city, and ZIP manually if autocomplete fails.
  • Wrong rate tier showing — go back to Step 7 and reselect the tier you want.
