Terms of Service

The rules for using Move Gigs Board, written in plain English. No hidden clauses, no surprises about fees.

Effective August 12, 2026

1. Who we are and what this covers

Move Gigs Board is a marketplace. We connect customers who need moving help with independent moving professionals who provide it. These terms apply to everyone who uses the site: customers, movers, and moving company owners.

By posting a move, applying as a mover, or booking a crew, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

We are not a moving company. We do not employ movers, own trucks, or perform moves. Movers on this platform are independent contractors who run their own businesses.

2. Your account

You must be 18 or older to create an account. Everything you tell us must be true — your name, your contact details, and, for movers, your experience, equipment, and background check information.

You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your password private and tell us right away if you think someone else has access.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, misrepresents itself, or puts customers or movers at risk.

3. How booking works

Customers post a move describing the work, the date, and the hourly rate they are offering from our published rate card. Movers apply. The customer reviews each applicant and builds their crew.

A move is reserved when the customer pays the booking fee. At that point the full address and contact details are released to the reserved crew, and everyone is expected to show up as agreed.

Each crew member checks in on move day using the customer's Move PIN. A move cannot start without it. Hours are tracked from check-in to check-out.

4. Pricing and fees

Every quote on this platform is itemized. You will always see labor, crew size, hours, travel, the platform fee, and the total before you commit.

  • Booking fee: a flat $49, paid by the customer when the crew is reserved. It is what you pay us to run the marketplace, verify movers, and handle payments and support.
  • Labor: the published hourly rate for the service level, multiplied by crew size and hours worked. There is a two-hour minimum per mover.
  • Travel: $0 for the first 10 miles between pickup and delivery, then a per-mover amount that increases in five-mile bands.
  • Platform fee on payouts: 10% of gross labor, deducted from each mover's payout.

A quote is not a final bill. The final charge is based on the hours the crew actually worked, plus any additional items you approve on move day. We tell you before we charge you.

5. Payment and authorization

When you reserve a crew, we charge the $49 booking fee and place a hold for the quoted balance. The hold is an authorization, not a charge.

After the move is verified as complete, we capture the balance for the hours actually worked, plus any tip you add. If the crew worked fewer hours than quoted, you pay less. If they worked more and you approved it, the difference is charged then.

Movers are paid after the customer verifies the move. Payouts go to the mover's connected payout account, minus the 10% platform fee and any company compensation share the mover has agreed to.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number.

6. Cancellation and refunds

Plans change. Here is exactly what happens when they do.

  • Customer cancels more than 48 hours before the start time: the quoted balance hold is released in full and the $49 booking fee is refunded.
  • Customer cancels 24 to 48 hours before: the hold is released and the $49 booking fee is not refunded. The crew turned down other work to hold your slot.
  • Customer cancels less than 24 hours before, or nobody is at the address at the start time: the booking fee is not refunded and each reserved mover is paid a one-hour minimum at the booked rate.
  • A mover cancels or does not show: you are not charged for that mover. We will help you find a replacement, and your remaining crew can continue.
  • The whole crew cancels or the move cannot go ahead through no fault of yours: everything is refunded, including the $49 booking fee.
  • Weather or another safety issue makes the move unsafe: we reschedule at no charge.

Refunds go back to the original payment method. Card networks usually take five to ten business days to post them.

7. What customers are responsible for

  • Describing the move accurately, including stairs, long carries, parking, and any unusually heavy or valuable items.
  • Providing a truck or container unless you booked a service that includes one.
  • Being reachable and giving the crew safe access to the property at the scheduled time.
  • Disconnecting appliances, and telling the crew about anything hazardous, fragile, or irreplaceable.
  • Verifying the move honestly when it is done so the crew gets paid.

Movers can decline work that is materially different from what was posted, or that is unsafe. If that happens, contact us and we will sort out the charge.

8. What movers are responsible for

Movers on this platform are independent contractors. You control how you work, you supply your own equipment, and you are responsible for your own taxes, insurance, and business licensing.

  • Arriving on time, checking in with the Move PIN, and working the hours you accepted.
  • Bringing the equipment listed on your profile and keeping your verification current.
  • Handling customer property with care, and reporting damage the same day it happens.
  • Treating customers and crew members professionally, and keeping communication on the platform.
  • Never asking a customer to pay you off-platform. That is grounds for immediate removal.

You are responsible for damage you cause. See the section on damage and claims below.

9. Damage, claims, and insurance

If property is damaged during a move, report it through the platform within 48 hours with photos. We will open a claim and work with the customer and the mover to resolve it.

Because movers are independent contractors, the mover who caused the damage is responsible for it. Move Gigs Board is not the moving company and is not liable for loss or damage to your belongings.

We hold movers accountable through the tools we do control: claim history is recorded, it affects the Quality Score, and repeated claims lead to suspension or removal.

We strongly recommend that customers check their renters or homeowners coverage, and that movers carry their own liability coverage.

10. Reviews and Quality Score

Only customers whose booking completed through the platform can leave a review. There are no purchased or invented reviews here.

We may hide a review that contains harassment, discriminatory language, personal contact details, or clearly false claims. Moderation actions are logged, and hiding a review recalculates the affected mover's score.

The Quality Score is calculated from real completed moves: customer rating, preparedness, on-time arrival, damage-free rate, acceptance rate, and cancellation rate.

11. Things you may not do

  • Take a booking off-platform to avoid fees, or ask someone else to.
  • Create fake accounts, fake reviews, or misrepresent your identity, experience, or equipment.
  • Harass, threaten, or discriminate against anyone on the platform.
  • Scrape the site, resell our data, or interfere with how the platform runs.
  • Use the platform for anything illegal, including moving stolen or prohibited goods.

We remove accounts that do these things, and we may withhold payouts connected to fraud.

12. Disputes

Start with us. Most disputes about hours, charges, or damage are resolved fastest by contacting support with your move details and photos. We review the timeclock records, check-in log, and messages.

If we cannot resolve it, disputes arising from these terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Before filing a claim, both sides agree to try in good faith to settle the matter directly for at least 30 days.

13. Limits on our liability

The platform is provided as-is. We work hard to vet movers and keep the service running, but we cannot guarantee that a specific mover will be available, that a move will go perfectly, or that the site will never be down.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim connected to the platform is limited to the fees you paid us for the move in question.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost wages, missed lease deadlines, or the cost of rebooking elsewhere.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform changes. When we make a material change, we will post the new effective date here and notify account holders by email.

Continuing to use the platform after a change means you accept the updated terms. The terms in effect when you booked a move govern that move.
