Understanding pricing

How your final bill is calculated: hourly labor, travel fee, $49 booking fee, and any add-ons.

Overview

Move Gigs Board pricing has four parts: the hourly labor you posted, a per-mover travel fee for distances over 10 miles, a flat $49 booking fee, and any specialty add-ons.

Purpose

Every customer sees the same itemized breakdown before they reserve. No hidden fees, no surprise line items on move day.

When to use it

Review pricing on the estimate page after Step 9 of Post My Move, or on your move detail screen inside the customer dashboard.

What's included

  • Hourly labor. Your posted rate × crew size × estimated hours.
  • Travel fee (per mover).

- 0–10 miles: no fee. - 11–15 miles: $10 per mover. - Each additional 5 miles: +$5 per mover.

  • Booking fee. Flat $49 charged at reservation. Covers platform, payment processing, and 24/7 support.
  • Specialty add-ons. Piano, safe, pool table, and similar items add a flagged review step and may require the $75 tier.

How the bill is finalized

Hours are tracked by each mover's check-in and check-out. If the crew finishes faster than estimated, you pay less. If they need longer, additional hours bill at the same posted rate. You approve the final hours during verification.

Helpful tips

  • The estimate is a projection. Real moves vary. Have a small buffer in your payment method for the balance charge.
  • Long carries, third-floor walk-ups, and heavy items reported honestly at post time make the estimate more accurate.

Common mistakes

  • Assuming the estimate is the final bill. Estimate = projection. Final bill = actual hours + travel + fees.
  • Forgetting the travel fee when the origin and destination are far apart.

Frequently asked questions

Is the $49 booking fee refundable? Yes, if you cancel before the 24-hour balance authorization runs.

When am I charged? The booking fee is charged at reservation. The balance is authorized 24 hours before the move and captured after you release payment.

Troubleshooting

  • Estimate looks off — go back to Post My Move and recheck property size, stairs, and specialty items.
