Finding jobs on the Move Board
Browse posted moves, filter for your area and tier, and request to join.
Overview
The Move Board at /mover/board is where customer-posted jobs appear. You browse, filter, and apply. Customers pick from applicants. This article covers both the Board and direct invites from customers who found your profile.
Why this feature exists
The Move Board opens up work to every approved mover, not just top of directory. Applying is how you get discovered by new customers. Direct invites are how you get repeat and specialty work.
Before You Begin
- Approved mover status
- Availability toggle On for the dates you want work
- Rate set on
/mover/rate
Step-by-step instructions
Accepting a direct invite
1. Open the invite from your dashboard. When a customer invites you, /mover shows a red badge on the Invites card. You also get an email and push notification.
What happens next: clicking the invite opens the full move details: date, address (city only until you accept), inventory, notes, and posted rate.
2. Read carefully. Check the date, the crew size the customer wants, the address distance from you, and any special notes.
What happens next: you have 24 hours to respond before the invite auto-expires (this affects your Acceptance Rate).
3. Accept or Decline. Accept locks you in at your direct rate. Decline sends a polite auto-message.
What happens next: on Accept, your move_crew row is created with crew_status = confirmed and the rate is frozen.
Requesting to join a Move Board job
1. Filter the Board. Use filters: date range, city/ZIP, crew size, tier. The board only shows jobs in your service area.
What happens next: the list refreshes to matching listings.
2. Open a listing. Read the customer's description, inventory count, and posted rate.
What happens next: the "Apply" button is enabled only if you meet the tier and skill requirements.
3. Apply. Click Apply. You can attach a short intro message (recommended).
What happens next: your application shows in the customer's team-builder view. They choose from applicants; you are notified if selected.
After you are selected
1. Confirm the details. Full address unlocks. Add the date to your calendar.
What happens next: the move appears on /mover/moves.
2. Message the customer. Say hello, confirm arrival time, ask about parking or stairs.
What happens next: builds trust before move day.
Helpful Tips
- Reply to invites within an hour. Fast response boosts your Acceptance metric.
- Apply to Board jobs the same day they post. Customers pick within 24–48 hours.
- Personalized intros beat form applications. Mention something specific about their move.
Common Mistakes
- Ignoring invites you do not want. Decline explicitly. Auto-expiration hurts your Acceptance Rate.
- Applying to every job. Cancelling later kills your Cancellation Rate.
- Assuming the address is right. Read the parking notes.
Troubleshooting
- Board shows "No jobs available". Widen your service area on
/mover/profileor check filters. - Apply button is disabled. You are missing a skill or tier requirement. The listing explains which one.
- Invite disappeared. Either the customer picked someone else, or the 24-hour window expired.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I apply to jobs outside my service area? No, the board filters them out.
How many jobs can I hold at once? No hard limit, but each confirmed move blocks that date on your calendar.
What if the customer cancels? You keep the deposit portion if they cancel within 24 hours of move day; see the payment article.
