Checking in with the Move PIN
On move day, the customer's 6-digit PIN starts your clock — no PIN, no paid hours.
Overview
The Move PIN is a 4-digit code the customer receives before move day. On arrival, you enter the PIN in /mover/timeclock to confirm you are on site. This article covers the full check-in flow including En Route, Arrived, PIN, Working, and Complete statuses.
Why this feature exists
The PIN proves the right mover is at the right address at the right time. It starts the customer's paid clock, unlocks your working status, and is the anchor for every downstream event — pay, disputes, damage reports, and reviews.
Before You Begin
- Confirmed move on your calendar
- Customer's address unlocked (unlocks 24 hours before move day)
- Phone with the Move Gigs Board app or
/mover/timeclockopen
Step-by-step instructions
1. Start En Route
When you leave for the job, open /mover/timeclock, find the move, and tap "I'm On My Way".
What happens next: your status flips to en_route. The customer sees a live status update.
2. Mark Arrived
When you park at the customer's address, tap "I've Arrived".
What happens next: status flips to arrived. A PIN entry field appears.
3. Ask the customer for their PIN
Greet the customer, introduce yourself, and ask "What's the Move PIN?" They pull it up on their /customer/moves/<id> screen.
What happens next: they read you a 4-digit number.
4. Enter the PIN
Type it into /mover/timeclock and tap Check In.
What happens next: on match, status flips to working and the clock starts. On mismatch, you get "Invalid PIN — try again" — no penalty for wrong entries.
5. Work the move
Do the job. Take photos of pre-existing damage before touching anything. Communicate with the customer.
What happens next: your work-time accumulates until you mark complete.
6. Mark Complete
When the customer confirms the move is done, tap "Complete Move" in /mover/timeclock.
What happens next: status flips to completed. Total hours are calculated. Payment release is triggered from the customer side.
Helpful Tips
- Start En Route as soon as you leave — customers relax when they see movement.
- If the customer is not home, wait 15 minutes and call them through in-app messaging before marking No-Show.
- Screenshot your final timer as a personal record.
Common Mistakes
- Entering the PIN before arriving. Only Arrived unlocks the PIN field. Prevents remote check-ins.
- Not marking Complete. The clock keeps running. You cannot dispute hours later.
- Sharing your login so a teammate can check in. Every mover has their own PIN entry — do not share credentials.
Troubleshooting
- PIN says invalid. Customer may be looking at an old move. Have them refresh
/customer/moves/<id>. - No PIN field appears. You may not be marked Arrived yet. Re-tap "I've Arrived".
- Clock started but wrong time. Contact the customer immediately to align actual start; hour adjustments can be filed through
move_crew_hour_adjustments.

Can two movers use the same PIN? Yes. Each mover on the crew checks in with the same customer PIN under their own login.
