Reporting damage
How to document damage, what Move Gigs Board handles, and what your movers are directly responsible for.
Overview
Move Gigs Board is a platform that connects customers with independent movers. When damage happens, you and the mover(s) responsible resolve it directly. The platform helps you document what happened and holds the mover accountable through the Quality Score system.
Purpose
Damage reports create a permanent record on both your move and the involved mover's profile. That record affects their Quality Score, damage history, and eligibility for the $75 specialty tier.
When to use it
- Furniture, floors, or walls damaged during the move.
- Missing items after unpacking.
- Any physical loss you noticed during the move or right after.
Step-by-step
- Open the move on your dashboard.
- Tap Report an issue and choose Damage.
- Select the mover(s) responsible.
- Describe what happened.
- Upload photos — well-lit, close-up, and wide shots.
- Submit. The report is logged, the mover is notified, and the item shows on the mover's damage history.

What Move Gigs Board handles vs. what movers handle
- Platform handles: documenting the incident, notifying the mover, logging the damage on their profile, updating their Quality Score, and providing the audit trail.
- Mover handles directly: resolving the actual damage — repair, reimbursement, or insurance claim. Movers with verified insurance can file through their own coverage.
Move Gigs Board is not a claims adjuster and does not reimburse damage on behalf of movers.
Helpful tips
- Photograph valuable and fragile items BEFORE the move — a timestamped photo strengthens any dispute.
- Do a walkthrough before releasing payment. It's easier to hold hours than to chase reimbursement after.
- Save the damaged item — don't dispose of it — until the mover has seen it.
Common mistakes
- Waiting a week to report. Report during or immediately after the move.
- Approving hours and releasing payment before doing a walkthrough.
Frequently asked questions
Does Move Gigs Board pay for damage? No. Movers are independent and responsible for resolution.
Can I withhold payment for damage? Not through the platform. You approve or adjust hours, then release payment. Damage is resolved with the mover directly.
What if the mover ignores my damage report? Contact support. Repeat unresolved reports affect the mover's status on the platform.
Troubleshooting
- Photo upload fails — reduce file size or try another photo.
- Can't find the "Report an issue" button — the move may be too old; contact support with the move ID.
